Dublin Construction provided design-build services for the new Georgia Biomass Facility’s manufacturing section in Waycross, GA. The operation manufactures compressed soft wood pellets primarily for export to EU countries for heating and electrical generation facilities through a series of hammer and pellet mills. The manufacturing building has a footprint of 26,000 sq. ft and a height of 75 ft, with five working floors for equipment. Extensive air handling systems were installed to provide product cooling and ventilation. This manufacturing operation consists of twenty-two pellet mills, fourteen hammer mills, associated structural support and facilities, and all the steam, air, and water utility piping. The facility is one of the world’s largest producers of renewable wood pellets, designed to produce 950,000 metric tons of finished wood pellets per year.
